The FemTech space is defined as new technology created to address women’s health, and it is forecast to be worth $100 billion by 2030, according to PitchBook (2022). While that is wonderful, it covers a very broad swath of user needs, and so I wanted to look at the part of a woman’s body that goes through so many stages of change and experiences: the vagina. Not everyone will experience all parts of this journey, but every moment in this journey is an expected part of what a vagina will experience with no medical pathology.
I call it VagTech.
We have seen investment in Women+ Health increasing, which is very welcome, but that investment is not evenly distributed. Through my research we can see that there are plenty of areas where designing for women+ bodies and experiences are perhaps less understood, and therefore less attractive.
I see lots of opportunity to follow the lead of these companies and create new offers for women’s vaginas - throughout their healthy lifecycle.
